RC transmitters (USB joystick)

These appear as a standard USB game controller / HID joystick when connected to the PC. Use FPV mode in the addon.

EdgeTX / OpenTX (and similar firmware) — typical examples include RadioMaster TX16S, Boxer, Zorro, Jumper T-Pro, and other EdgeTX- or OpenTX-based handsets that expose sticks over USB as a joystick (trainer / USB serial / joystick mode per your radio’s manual).

FrSky — e.g. Taranis and other FrSky radios: when the OS lists the device as a USB joystick (on Windows, commonly STMicroelectronics Joystick in FS Mode for flight-simulator / USB joystick mode), it is supported the same way as other RC USB joysticks above.

Tested Configuration

The addon was tested on:

  • OS: macOS 26 Tahoe, Windows 11
  • Controllers: DualShock 4, Xbox
  • Blender: 4.5–5.0

Notes

  • Controller behavior can vary by device and OS backend.
  • Some third-party controllers may work if they emulate XInput or standard HID.
  • For best results, use first-party Xbox or PlayStation controllers.
  • Sony HID: On first run, a one-time auto-restart may occur to stabilise triggers. Move sticks or press a button to "wake" the controller.
  • DualShock on Windows: Unpredictable behavior may occur. If it does, click Stop and Start again — the issue should go away. This affects Windows + DualShock only.
